The first day of competition of Season 73 was an exciting one for the Stetson Marching Arts family. SMA found great success in season 72 despite being founded only halfway through the season, with all groups making Div.III Semifinals, and clinching a finals position in the marching band and drumline competitions. This success brought great excitement to all members to see what a full season can bring this time around.

Canada Corps was easily a fan favorite at the CLASS Championships Review. What started as a riveting performance of the 1812 Overture. All 3,846 attendees were brought to their feet in the closer as the corps fired real cannons to finish off a fantastic run. Canada Corps claimed first of two in DIII with a score of 51.490.

Maple Leaf Percussion Ensemble performed their lighthearted and energetic show, Firework at Drums Along the Periodic Table. Featuring clean beats and uniforms and props of bright colours, Maple Leaf will stand out as a corps to watch out for at DIII Finals. Maple Leaf scored 50.905 and placed 2nd of 8.

Alberta X premiered their show, Trapped in the Depths, at Dream Concert Season 73. Telling the story of being trapped in depression and the fruitless efforts to claw your way out, the show captivated the audience from beginning to end. Placing 2nd out of 9, Alberta X scored a 52.965.

Last but not least, the Calgary Stetson Showband premiered their Western theme show Outlaw at the Beaux Musique Festival. A pleasant surprise to all members and staff was the promotion to Div.II this season. While the competition will now be tougher, the band has been been inspired to work harder than ever before. The band placed 3rd out of 4 in their first ever Div.II competition, scoring a respectable 51.470.
