Phoenix Honors was originally created by a small group of high school students who wished to dedicate more time of their summers practicing marching and wished to increase their skill levels. The group would design their own small shows, making the drill, music, and props themselves. As more people came to the practices and participated they decided to become an actual independent marching band for high school aged students. The band was named Phoenix Honors due to most students coming from Fairmont High School, the Firebird being their mascot. The band accepts students of all skill levels and looks for students who are dedicated to the marching arts and wish to improve themselves.
