After years of fundraising, a group of former high-school students from the Peoria area decided that Illinois needed (another) drum corps. After much contemplation, the name "The Legion" was selected, due to an interest in the ancient Roman Legion. Corps colors are purple and gold, and their symbol is a sword and shield with the title "Legion 150 members, 1 unit" above it.
