February 24th 2013:

Camp has ended for all of the groups! It's looking to be a good season. Our staff has constructed the shows and bought the music for all shows.

The Commonwealth's Marching Cavaliers will be performing "Desperation," a dystopian story based off of the Stephen King novel. They will be playing As All the Heavens Were A Bell by Jay Bocook, Shadow Rituals by Michael Markowski, and The Machine, which was the closer to The Cavaliers in 1998.

Commonwealth Independent is celebrating the 50th anniversary of James Bond (a little late) with their show. Their music will be the Monty Norman theme, Goldeneye by Tina Turner, Nobody Does it Better by Carly Simon and Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey.

The Commonwealth Percussion Ensemble is performing their show: "Frankenstein!" They will be playing an original composition.

And lastly, The Commonwealth Crusaders Drum and Bugles Corps will be performing their show: "A Tribute to John Phillip Sousa!" Their musical composition is primarily based off of the main theme to "Manhattan Beach."

We have developed a schedule for the upcoming season for all four groups. Thanks to the Colonial Association of Musical Arts and associated groups, we've been able to program more shows for every group this season.

Nice job to the Commonwealth Percussion Ensemble for placing 8th at today's FMA regional.

A reminder to all that if anyone wishes to see any of the Commonwealth groups, they'll be attending the Fort Washington show tomorrow.

A reminder to anyone interested:

The Commonwealth Crusaders will be attending CAMA's Baltimore regional today. All groups will be at Bennington on March 3rd.

Congratulations to the Commonwealth's Marching Cavaliers for stealing the Winds, Percussion and Guard captions at Bennington.

Congratulations to all the Commonwealth ensembles for placing in the top ten at FMA Indianapolis.

Congratulations to the Commonwealth's Marching Cavaliers and to Commonwealth Independent Winterguard for placing 2nd at Germantown today. The Marching Cavaliers also held their high Winds and Guard scores.

A quick reminder to those interested:
All Commonwealth ensembles will be performing Colonial Marching Arts New Orleans regional on March 10th. The staff with the Commonwealth ensembles wish all groups good luck at New Orleans!

We would like to welcome Ira Hopkins, Commonwealth Independent's new assistant director, to our group.

Also, all of our quality ensembles will be attending the Colonial Marching Arts King's Mountain regional today.

We wish everybody attending that regional, or any other regional, luck as we exit the third week of the season.

We wish everyone luck tonight as we begin the fourth week of the 24th season.

The Commonwealth ensembles would like to wish all groups luck as we go into the first night of finals. It's been a very exciting year that all of us are grateful to have been a part of.

The Commonwealth ensembles would like to congratulate all groups in D3 and beyond. It's been a terrific season! Not only are we proud of ourselves for putting ALL of our groups in finals, we're also proud of all the other groups that have made finals in D3. We wish everyone luck as we begin the close Season 24.
