Week 1 is going very well so far. We have all of our top 20 over 70 points with the Bluecoats being the only group over 80 points. With so much still left in the season, I'm expecting many changes especially considering the current champions are sitting all the way in 7th place.

Division 2 is a fun division the contenders here change so frequently that even if you are sitting low in the rankings you can climb fast. The standouts I want to mention are Order of the Phoenix who is currently sitting on a full 1 point lead, Yellow Jacket Regiment who just missed finals last season and are currently sitting in 3rd and finally Chuck Norris's Mouthpiece the group that won season 31 Gold in Division 3 and are currently sitting in 6th place. These are my favorites for this season in Division 2.

Division 3 is the great unknown. The great Rookie division. Most groups that achieve finals are promoted right away to Div. 2. With that being said the current top 3 are looking to be making a gap early on in the season to secure their medals. While 3rd is a full point over 4th anything can happen in this division. We won't really see the top 12 fully emerge until after week 3 when it would be extremely difficult for a new corps to join up and make a run. The more active they practice the higher they climb. Here is where we will start to see our future Division 2 winners.

Finally I sat down with Beardman director of Chuck Norris's Mouthpiece winner of Division 3 last season for a little interview.

Jhawk: You won first in Div. 3 and just got promoted to Div. 2 how do you feel?

Beardman: Good, I don't know what to expect, with what time I do have this season.

JH:The big thing about drum corps is having a strong focus what is yours?

BM: Consistency, really. Having a plan and going through with it to get results

JH: Is there anything that you are wanting to achieve in season 32?

BM: Well, I've been looking at other groups who've moved up from 3 to 2 in the past, just out of curiosity, and I see kind of a trend. I'd honestly be content with making finals of some kind, should I medal, neat, should I win, then, well, I can say I didn't see it coming, I didn't even see last season coming, until, well, the last few days.

JH: Most corps have a special song that they play to psych themselves up that has some sort of meaning to the corps, what's yours?

BM: The Eyes of the Ranger, by Tex Roses

JH: Finally do you have any words of wisdom to inspire other Div. 3 groups?

BM: Don't stop rehearsing, keep it up, ask questions, like I did with some of my friends who've done this before. I was told by my more experienced friends to figure out a working strategy, needless to say, I did, it worked with my first real season. Good luck.

These will normally be done on Saturday night so that it is a little fairer since it will mean everyone had a chance to get in 5 shows.
