(@ mellohero) Really? haha I know that gets, well, quite a bit of time on the field already XP But, in my head, it really fits really well with what I want. If that makes sense. Bits and pieces of "The Whomping Willow and the Snowball Fight" are interspersed into it. That combination would show up often during the show. Before and after "Smile." My sophomore year of high school we actually had a decent staged choir during parts of the ballad (Gabriel's Oboe w/ bassoon). I'm thinking maybe of having "The Patronus Light" done similarly, with a very full, aggresive hit over it? I'm not sure about saying that because I have no idea how it'd translate or work well. But the instrumental part wouldn't be unlike the "big hit" near the end of Frank Ticheli's new work, "Angels in the Architecture," which I really like. Except of course that would be an original composition to fit over "The Patronus Light" (Choir?). (Gosh is that not a wall of text hahaha)

^ I didn't know it was that popular on the field, actually. I shuddered because when I auditioned for the concert/symphonic band at my college a couple years back, that was the piece we had to play from.

Emerald Vanguard is here to stay as we transition from the old FMA to the new. Our program this season is Frank Sullivan's "Undercover," which is considerably different from what we did last season; Malcolm Arnold's English Dances.

The Marching Marchers will be performing their show "Learning to March". The band is the advanced by-invitation-only band to the public band The Crappy Marchers. The Marching Marchers only requirement is that all members be complete marching badasses and only march or jazz run at 160+ at all times.

Defeat is not an option, and any members who tick in a show or practice will be cut. Only two members have ever been cut from the band for being ticks and unable to handle our insane marching skills. They ended up marching for The Cavaliers. All of our other members who went on to march drum corps went to top 3 corps who actually knew how to march.

Our motto is - Losing is shame.

The Marching Lords hails from Fort Wayne, Indiana. They bring a fine tradition of excellence from the previous "circuit" placing 6 times in finals with 1 Bronze finish and 2 Silver finishes with one coming just last season!

This season, the group is proud to present their newest show and hoping to step off on the right foot. It represents how the group enters this "new" circuit that is unfamiliar. We start with a classic familiar piece moving into the soothing Baku Village ballad as the group discovers the beauty and wonder of this new "land." However, the "natives" become restless and a battle ensues. At it's conclusion, we end with the beautiful love theme from the film "Stardust" as we take our steps into the light of the beautiful but strange new world without looking back.

Title: Strange New World

Repertoire:
New World Symphony - Dvorak
Baku Village (From Star Trek Insurrection) - Jerry Goldsmith
Murder Murder (From Jekyll & Hyde) - Frank Wildhorn
Tristan & Yvaine (From Stardust) - Ilan Eshkeri

Always wanted to have Vanessa Carlton's music as a marching show (am I crazy? I just think it's really pretty) so The Marching Caledonian Band is back with "Heartstrings" featuring four of her songs :)
