Well as those of us who got here early from last nights contests have begun staking a claim to our areas of floor time. Unloading is done and equipment in, bedding layed out and just as the kidds settle down, another 2 corps come driving up . and of course the vets must go greet their friends marching in those other corps

( took my sleeping pills too soon, the screen is blurry and the keyboard is like a giant sponge )

I decided to come ahead on the Sunset Limited and enjoy the trainride ( I'm a train freak ) and to hold a staff meeting on the train. We pulled up in SAS just about 2 am and made a detour to the riverwalk to treat the staff to a few drinks ( howvwer, percussuin ans Guard staff ( because ofv their low scores had to ride the busses.

The drums and horns have set up the :walk of the judges" in which all other corps girls must walk the gaunlet to the fenale showers so that they can each be scored on "basics" and visual performance on the way out. A long lasted tradition of sourhern corps.

Pennies have been picked up so I'm hopeing that the penny through wount keep us up all night

Shades of New Orleans has suggested a volley ball game with Darkness for early am exercise..

We hope this can be a eat wwhere you want event where all food trucks are open to all kids aand staffs

Shades of New Orleans will be serving:

Home made cornbread with grilled Tassu, eggs rockafeller, Baked King Kakes and bloody marys. Of course, we will have real french drip cafe' ole'.

Gonna go bed down. any problems with the kids, just beat their ass and make the stand at attention nex to my bed.

Ok, the morning volly ball game was fun as was breakfast.

We moved out to the practice field for our one hour slot between 11 amd and noon. Didn't get much done but a little cleaning of the guard.

Lunch was Muffalattas and Barq's rootbeer for the kids. The adults had the Muffalattas but feasted on the local micro brews selection.

Looking forward to tonights show but seeing just how hard everyone else in the top 12 are working we don't know if we can continue to hang in the top six.

After show dinner hosted by Shades of New Orleans will be :
Fried shrimp
crawfish pies
dirty rice
bread pudding with hard sauce

Kids are all loaded on the buses and as we hit the road each night we play several "tunes" from home. Helps us to relax before lights out as well as reminding each of us they we represent New Orleans for we ARE a large part of her music.

Listen to the humm of the ac units as they chill the bus down to a nice 68 degrees and the moan of those tires as they hit the Interstate and carry us home.
