From the desk of Director Veritone:

Good day fellow FMAers: Welcome to our 2nd seasonal Phoenix Performing Arts Newsletter! We have lots (lots!!) of important information to share with y’all today, so let’s skip the intro and get right to the good stuff!

Group Updates
We are happy to announce that all four of our performing groups will be back in service this
coming season! This includes Silver Drum & Bugle Corps, Silver Indoor Percussion, Silver Guard, and the newly renamed Sun Devil Marching Band, all hailing from Phoenix, Arizona. Looking forward to seeing all of you out on the field!

Event Updates
We are proud to announce that we are spearheading and hosting in the S111 FMA World Tour!
We will be hosting events for all four circuits in Week 3 of S111 in Rome! All shows will be 20 capacity. If
you don’t know, the FMA World Tour is a series of events this season that will be held all around the
world, aiming to bring the joy of the marching arts to an international audience. All the fun roleplaying
around that is on the FMA discord, be sure to join!

Show Reveals
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for… the show reveals! Our creative and design
team has been working hard this season to prepare excellent shows for our audiences. Let’s begin with
the Silver Guard!

The S111 Silver Guard is excited to announce their production, “Révolution!”. This exciting show
tells the bloody story of the French Revolution. It features music from the hit musical “Lés Misérables”.
As heads fly and revolt is at hand, can you hear the people sing? You’ll find out soon, as there’s only one
day more in S110. Next, let’s talk the Sun Devil Marching Band.

The S111 Sun Devil Marching Band is proud to present their show, “Hail: The Music of the King
of Pop”. This show explores the music of the famous pop star Michael Jackson. We begin in his
childhood as a member of the Jackson 5 with his brothers, featuring “ABC”. Then we head through into
his career in music, with “Beat It” and “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough”, before coming to the closer in
full concert flair with the iconic “Thriller”. Catch us at ASU home games or touring around the world!
Now for Silver Indoor Percussion!

Silver Indoor Percussion takes us on a journey through the outer reaches of space with “ASTRA”.
We take a trip around the galaxy with some iconic tunes reminiscent of space. We begin with the iconic
“Also Sprach Zarathustra” by Richard Strauss. You probably know it from the movie 2001: A Space
Odyssey. We then head into turmoil as we get into a space fight with “Mars: Bringer of War” from
Holst’s “The Planets”. Finally we find peace, as space should be, in “Jupiter”, also from “The Planets”.

Now for what you’ve been waiting for: Silver Drum & Bugle Corps! We are extremely excited to announce our S111 production: "Sanctus"! In this solemn show, we take the audience through the rich history of liturgical music. We begin with the ancient monastic tradition of Gregorian Chant with "Pange Lingua Gloriosi". See the entire hornline sing (is it drum corps or choir now?)! Then we dive into the celebration of the Mass with Vivaldi's "Gloria in Excelsis Deo". We then return to an old classic with variations on Pachelbel's iconic "Canon in D". We then explore the slower and mournful side of music with Fauré's "Sanctus" from his Mass of Requiem. We then come to a climactic end with Vivaldi's "Cum Sancto Spiritu"

We are looking forward to season 111. On behalf of all of us at Phoenix Performing Arts, we wish you a productive and fulfilling one-hundred and eleventh season of FMA.
