For the FIRST TIME in BHS Performing Arts history on FMA, the Buchanan High School Independent will be the FIRST BHSPAA group to break 90 points! A huge feat for our growing program, and an incredible achievement for our performers, staff, and volunteers!

Their highest score, 89.705, was achieved tonight, May 7, 2023, at the Southeast Texas Guard Preview, hosted by the Lumberton HS World Guard. With finals week beginning on Sunday, May 14, 2023, the group holds onto a close race with Spin City (9th, 90.230), who is just 0.525 pts ahead of Buchanan (10th, 89.705) in the division 1 standings. We are confident that our finish during finals week will be a memorable one, as we hope to achieve a solid 92.0 by this time next week!

In other program news, the Spirit of Bucktown DBC and the Buchanan High School BMB each broke 80 points for the first time in their respective history. Spirit of Bucktown DBC will not appear in the D1 Drum Corps Finals this season. As of May 6, 2023, they are seeded in 15th with their score of 80.100, while the Spirit of the Raiders (12th) rounds out the leaderboard with their score of 85.855.

However, the Buck Marching Band is INCHES away from missing a performance in division 1 finals by a margin of 0.015 between 11th (Buchanan, 80.080), and 12th (Synecdoche2, 80.065). In addition, a margin of 0.300 stands between 11th place Buchanan and 13th place (North Arizona HS, 79.780), who also has a strong chance of knocking either one out of the top 12.
