Don’t want this to come across as sour grapes, but somehow I did not notice until today’s season opener that the golden cohort had been “demoted” to D3. I’m just trying to find some kind of rhyme or reason for it, given that several corps that finished below them head-to-head in finals maintained their D2 status. Additionally, several corps around in the same ballpark
director-level-wise remained in D2, so it can’t be that. Anyone got any info?

Hello,

Based on what I have seen, influence plays as large a role in division placement as scores. When our groups were in Div II, we got stuck there for several seasons based purely on the fact that we had around 50,000 influence, even though we were winning by somewhat large margins.

This account's groups, on the other hand, have a lot of influence, but only one high-scoring season, meaning they are placed in Div II rather than Div I.

It is a combo of the two, and can lead to a lot of frustration is the game places you above or below the division you should really be in.

I agree with everything stated above. I just want to add to it that it could have something to do with how much you rehearsed before divisions were assigned. It could have something to do with there not being enough groups to fill out d3 - and with your influence being lower than others in d2 who filled out that division, you were demoted.
