Hey everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! While my current account is relatively new, I used to have an account quite a while ago (about seasons 43-49). Now that I’m back, I’ve noticed that the number of groups that actively participate enough to see their scores improve has dwindled quite a bit. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with smaller numbers of participants, I think it has made the finals, particularly for those of us in D3 and D2, a little predictable. The best D2 corps is currently about 2 points ahead of 2nd and the best D3 corps is nearly 5 points ahead of 2nd. Furthermore, there are some groups that may start out strong, but only really jump .1 per day if at all, while the more active groups can jump a full point or more per day.

I was wondering what the logistics might be like to do sort of like what DCI does…how they have open class first and then those in open class can choose to perform at World championships as well. Perhaps we could even contain it to just D2 and D3 finalists or even medalists. While most wouldn’t have a chance at winning or even making finals, it would at least give us a chance to have a bit more competition until we can work our way up to D1.

Maybe this has been discussed before, I’m just curious if a possible change in format, classification, or schedule has ever been considered and if so, why was it tabled?

Thanks! I’m enjoying my time back with FMA!

From a general standpoint: Alex has more or less stopped working on FMA as a whole, and only really pops in any time there's a major issue. I don't think something like this is a terrible idea, but it would probably also require a total rework of everything i'm sure which probably is the last thing Alex has on his mind.
