Do you get more money before a new season to get staff members and such, or do you have to fundraise to get more money for the next season?

I wanna say no. But Alex could say yes to that. The reason being is because you can run campaigns to get more funds for your group. And I want to say you'll keep your staff, 'cause you can always upgrade them. And So running competitions and fundraisers is your way of making funds to run your groups. It adds more realism to game.

That's just my theory Alex could be doing something else.

That's how it worked in FMA 1.0. All funds from fund-raising were still there, and then you got a default amount at the beginning of each season to help pay for the costs of the show, and create a better show than the season before. I see this happening again, or else no one would ever have enough money to get staff and upgrading them without hurting their chances next season.

You do not get extra money beyond what you receive when you first create your group. You will need to fundraise or host shows to make money. The reason this is different from the old version is because you keep your staff from season to season. In this version, the problem of "money hoarding" is completely rectified because it is in your best interest to spend all of your money rather than save it and blow it all in one glorious season.
