Rockford Redshift is an independent drum corps based out of Rockford, Illinois. The corps began as a small community performance group with roots in local parades, civic events, holiday celebrations, and non-competitive marching exhibitions around northern Illinois. For many years, the group was less focused on competition and more focused on giving young performers a place to play, march, and represent the Rockford area at local events. After the COVID-19 shutdowns disrupted many school music programs and community ensembles, Rockford Redshift was reorganized with a new purpose. What had once been a parade-based group began shifting toward a modern drum corps model, adding a larger brass section, battery and front ensemble percussion, color guard, original field shows, and a more structured summer rehearsal schedule.
