Brooklyn Guard Battery
Group Description
Level: 35
Influence: 8284
Hometown: Brooklyn, New York
League: DRUMS
Established in 1992, the Brooklyn Guard Battery, known for their humorous and mischievous style, has worked to inspire young musicians from across NYC and beyond, and ensure them that even through adversity, incredible things can be accomplished. Urban legend has it that in the closing months of 1992, despite strong dissent from the Brooklyn Guard Drum and Bugle Corps staff, two dozen members of the percussion section gathered $921.79 to travel to the debut of Indoor Percussion at WGI Championships. When the staff refused to support their endeavor, they promptly proceeded to steal a school bus from Lafayette High School in southern Brooklyn during the night and see their goal through. After their travels (and a terrifying disappearance) all members returned safely with only misdemeanors, four days in the Metropolitan Detention Center and a first place trophy with honors. The de facto ensemble was swiftly introduced to the public and has since spread excitement and revolution in the many years that have followed.
