But I'll bet you right now that the Top 3 come Finals will be those three corps (Crown, Cadets, Blue Devils) in any order.

Did you know Scott won WGI? A lot..

"Scott has also been the instructor and designer for WGI Independent and Scholastic World Class Champions for twenty three consecutive years including: the Skylarks of Fairfield, CT (1982-84), State Street Review of Madison, WI (1984-89), San Jose Raiders of San Jose, CA (1990-94), and The Blue Devils (1995-98). In 2005 he led James Logan High School (1997-05) to their eighth consecutive Scholastic World Championship title."

BD stopped competing in open world in WGI because they were so good. 4 years undefeated, and still hold the high score record. I got to see them from 96-98, they were amazing.

Yes I did... how do you think i know him? ;)
and he didnt just win... he dominated. He pushed the limit and redefined WGI just as he's doing with BD now. He is one of the foremost experts in movement.

Did you know he was with Spirit of Atlanta (for a year) too?

Related news, there's drama in Union City right now. Band director Ramiro Barrera (former program coordinator for Blue Devils and Madison Scouts) has retired and assistant Band director (and BD Visual guru) Ken Karlin left for another job, so Logan's going to have an entirely new staff next year. A lot of district politics, from what I understand. I know a lot of BD guard staffers work with Logan, too. I wonder if that will continue.

Wow crazy.. Logan was like BD high school! Ken was a visual tech at BD when I was there, Ramiro was there too, I only saw him once in two years lol.. he came to a practice and brought his daughter, from what I remember she was very very cute. lol

Personally, there is too much synth this year. That is the nature of the beast these days, though. I will still go to semis to see SCV, and the few corps who have not pretty much replaced their contra sections with a keyboard player. : /

Oh, and not to corps bash, but Spirit has their contras running around at trail too much. Just my opinion.

I think the title will be up for BD and Crown. They both have great shows and great talent.. however I think BDs show just has that extra "IT" factor that CC is missing. I think Crown will win in the next few years.. and the only thing holding them back (imo) is their staffs (in)experience at winning/designing championship shows. They are getting there.. but you have to remember, they are competing against corps that have been and know how to win consistently for 30 years.. With that said.. if BD was not around, I think CC would have a very good chance at winning it this year. At the same time, like BD... you can never count out Cadets and their ability to win championships while having a crappy ass visual show with horrible feet. :)

My opinions on post 2000 DCI are fairly well known. Needless to say, I see a top 8 Finals on the horizon.

Their show is a headscratcher and I don't think anyone really understands it. They perform OK but they really are on par with Boston, Spirit and Madison. If they cant get it together I wouldn't be surprised to see them as low as 10th come finals.

Well if they don't average any better, when they play here in San Antonio they will have to march prelims

San Antonio isn't a prelims/finals format anymore.
