Equilibrium, Choppers, Flamtastic, and Beatboxers are all coming off two seasons of fundraising or exhibitions. They are all primed for finals. If they falter, Plato’s Drum (#13), Cymbalism (#16), and The Holy Winged Percussion (#19) are all ready to pounce.

Still not surprised. The top 4 are all former D1s who are coming off “off” seasons in various degrees. Then Super Adventure Club is a rather experienced line coming off a D3 perfect season. None of them should drop out. Black Beat NZ B is #17 and Aviators are #20. They are the closest. A few others are in the 20s, but it may be a week or two before they fight through the CADA group to reach the top 12.

No D3 line from PEARL is currently in the top 12. Not a huge surprise. D3 is dominated by CADA early. Southern Stroke Roll (#16), former D1 drumline Pandora (#18), Neon Haze (#20), Lightning Percussion (#21), and Tempests (#22) are all a week or two away, but they should all contend for a top 12 spot.

I found something in another quick number crunch: PEARL is the second most active league in FMA this season, measured by the amount of members currently in a division. PEARL has 56 active members and FAME has 57 active members.

wow I'm a part of both. no wonder I could barely get into any league events

Southern Stoke Roll is currently in 8th in the D3 standings.

Hopefully not a jinx, but Southern Stroke Roll will win D3 drumlines.

How are the points for the PEARL cup determined?

Every league member gets points for their placement in every competition. In non-PEARL events, a group gets 5 points for placing 1st in their division, 4 points for placing 2nd, and 3 points for placing 3rd. In PEARL sanctioned events, points are distributed in each division as follows:
1st: 8 pts
2nd: 7 pts
3rd: 6 pts
4th: 4 pts
5th: 3 pts
6th: 2 pts
7th and beyond: 1 pt
In PEARL events, groups can receive bonus points. For every caption a group leads their division in, they receive 1 bonus point. If a group is the only group in their division competing in the event, they cannot receive bonus points. The highest scorer in the entire event earns 2 bonus points.

3rd place for PEARL Championships, and by about .01 points. I'm ok with this.
Also, good lord at the overall PEARL Cup standings. D3 Drumlines from 3-5 are all sequential and a point away. That's insane.

A PEARL line has won the FMA D3 finals every season of PEARL's existence. Calculating the point totals for D3 is always fun, because there are always 3 to 5 REALLY good drumlines.
