I am going to the Lafayette Competition on Monday! But I'm riding with one of the Judges, so I will be by myself to watch the shows. I would love to meet some of you guys! Plus I don't want to sit alone!

BC is in the top 3 right now.. it'll be interesting to see if they can keep the momentum and not peak too early. Seems like CC needed some viagra this year..

Disappointed in Crown this year. I loved everything about their show last year but this year is just too weird. There are parts that I really like and parts that I really hate (trampolines...).

Cadets closing the gap on Blue Devils (from the few scores that I've seen), Finals could be interesting again this year.

From my *totally unbiased* (/s) standpoint, watching my corps' show this year it seems like they still have so much to clean drill-wise. That being said, as much as I'd love them to push the top 2, I don't know if the gap they keep getting between them and Cadets/BD is something they'd be able to catch up. There's still a lot of the season left and I think they'll still be in a battle to hold off Crown and SCV for that 3rd spot. But hey, anything can happen, right?...

Anyone else going to finals? I'm doing the music ed clinic that day there.

I'm going for the first time this year. Don't have the best seats in the place, but as my father has said about other events: "it gets you in the building."

I can't make finals this year because I just bought the new house and finally have a tenant in the old one! However Bluecoats seem to be owning third right now.THEY really aren't a peak to early kind of corps. They tend to move up come finals week. Crown I don't think is bad, I actually rather enjoy their show and leave humming their tunes, but no its not last year. They also lost fan favorite status clearly. Vanguard keeps climbing and could take them no doubt. I just think in general it's a tougher year competition wise. Cadets who is one of my favorite corps I think could be the peak early group. Maybe it's just that the show is mostly bland to me with a few very tasty and touching moments but it doesn't touch BD this year which is fun, well done and accessible finally! I'm glad they are finally showing AGAIN that you can be abundantly talented AND ENTERTAINING. they will be hard to be beat by any corps out there I think, as much as I'd love to see bluecoats win!

Blue Devils entertaining? That's interesting, good to hear. Their shows (NOT the performers, just got to make sure I make that part clear) have been trash more often than not for the last ten years. Sorry if that offends anyone, but that's what I think!

I got to go to Finals last year, had pretty bad seats. Had a friend who was a Glassmen alum and they had an unfilled block in perfect position (45 yard line ish, not too high up, we could see and hear absolutely everything) so I got to move up there. An amazing experience!

i am not going to go so far as to say trash--but I am sorry I agree that many of their shows are so--see it once, your good. To me Cadets this year honestly fits in that category and it kills me to say that because I have been a cadets fan most every year since 87 LOL I know in the past 10 years or so BD has had the best performers, no doubt...but the shows---from eh to WTF?...then again Cavies have done that before too...to me 007 was the epitome of screw you--we can play any crap and still win! dada...i had to go back in for the encore because I forgot my friends Tshirt...pure torture to watch yet again...

They certainly aren't the only corps to have shows like that, they're just the most successful (and arguably the worst offenders). But I have pulled for BD in the past ten years, even with a show I hated. In 2007 the narration used by Cadets (my actual favorite corps) bothered me so much I was actively rooting for BD to win, even though I couldn't stand Winged Victory.

I could write a series of posts about specific shows that bothered me for almost every corps, but I don't want to go down that road. I've done enough of that today. Haha.

I do actually try to remain positive but some day we should have a "shows you've hated" for each of the top 12 lol

Bluecoats just put a new ending in last night, so once that is clean, who knows. I fully expect the gap between them and Cadets to be bigger tonight by a little bit. Seems to be that's just how things go sometimes. When you think you're going to close the gap, it goes the other way haha

Yeah I know... I have been keeping up on the scores and pretty much everything but brass is lagging behind a bit this year. Kinda sad after such a great season. Hopefully they'll place top 6 at least.
