I keep missing a couple of hours because it's my first season back in a long time.

Pretty sure lol. That season stands out in my head. It was not too long after I joined early to mid Season 9.

Trying to get a medal again this season. Been too long since the Legends won a DI Medal!

Pride of Peachtree is fresh off of a top 5 finals finish, and our starting score went up about 2.5 points from last season, so we're ready to make a strong push at our first medal. I will say that division 1 becomes a lot more interesting with your return, Strad. Makes it a bit tighter near the top.

Started out in 4th across the board besides drumline (I count Knights as being second lol) where I got 3rd. My best start to a season I've ever had though. Definitely could be close to 1st right now but I was definitely rusty this preseason.

And can I just add that color guard is as broken as ever before lol

Broken is an understatement. In season 54 there was a SEVEN WAY TIE at Division 1 finals! All scored a 100.

The color guard system being broken has been a big part of why I've taken a few breaks from playing (besides my one medical leave). I really don't think it's a difficult fix. Oh well.

Gonna push hard to win this season's color guard championship, if I can do it I'll break the tie with Silver Falcon and officially have the most Gold Medals in DI color guard history!

I'm hoping to tie you for my first D1 Gold Medal EVER :D

Edit: It's the staff that is broken in colorguard. You get almost 2 times as much bonus in your captions from the assistant directors as the other groups. Add onto that the ridiculously high influence that has been accumulated over the years by the top groups. It's just crazy lol

Staff is a major problem. I've also thought that if we lopped off 5-10 points from the base score (making it what I believe would be a 35) that would also help give room to prevent this. As it is, groups are still only getting to 100 by Prelims at the earliest (there may be a few exceptions). If we all started ten points lower I think that would make it all but impossible to get to 100 at any point in the season.

True, but groups are only getting to 100 late because score gains severely drop off as the score gets higher. Right now we're all starting at almost a 90 or higher and gain like .2-.4 a night even with max rehearsal hours.

I'd honestly rather compete at finals being in the 80-90 range than having multiple groups tie for 1st with a 100.Takes away the feeling of accomplishment...

I personally think the fact that color guard only has 4 scoring captions may produce the higher scores. More energy can be used on each caption, and each caption is worth more. Because of this, upgraded staff boosts rehearsal points even more so than for other disciplines.

Instead of lowering the base score, what if the equipment and movement captions were further split into individual and group equipment and individual and group movement? The problem with that, though, is that the ensemble caption becomes obsolete and unnecessary.

Maybe changing rehearsal gains would work? Just alter the algorithm for just the guards and make it a little more efficient.

I've had no competitions for my corps since the 12th lol hoping to jump to an 82 maybe 82.5. Fingers crossed lol. I think I've missed a total of like 6-7 hours of rehearsal time since then so idk how much of an impact that will have...

I haven't had a show since then either. I'm hoping to be in top 12 contention.

Yeah it was pretty bad this first week. I couldn't get into any shows. I even had to have my b account host a couple shows on the first day (you attended them I think lol) just to geta score and get more people in for the first day. I think I might start just hosting shows on my b account on days where shows are a little scarce. Hopefully can start up 30 group shows in a season or 2 if I can make some money with it. (I of course will not be using my b account to attend the show or participate at all as I don't want to abuse the high influence that my b account has accumulated over a long time lol)
